Welcome to liLfytr.wordpress.com.
I pray that what you see and read here is an absolute blessing to your walk with Jesus. If you are not yet walking with Him, i pray that what you see and read here would convince you that He is worth it.
You see, that is exactly what liLfytr means. You need to “live in Love (so that you can) find your true reward.” The crazy thing is that the reward is Jesus. He is also the definition of love. To live in Jesus is to live in Love. The truest manifestation of this reality will not occur until after death when we stand in His presence. The question we must ask ourselves is this: “When i stand in His presence will i be drawn to Him or will i be trying to hide from Him?”
We will all stand in His presence.
If you truly love Him during your time on earth, you will be drawn to Him when you stand in His presence; if you spurn Him and refuse to believe in Him during your time on earth, you will be trying to hide from Him when you stand in His presence.
I write with the hope that you will come to love Him and be drawn both to Him and to His people in a supernatural way. It is not enough to be for Jesus; you must also be for His people, the church. The two cannot be divorced.
So what you’ll encounter here is a lot of Scripture. The Bible is filled with the inspired words of God, and it is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, for the purpose of spurring God’s people on to good deeds. There will be posts here that seek to teach, posts that seek to rebuke, posts that seek to correct, and posts that seek to train. As a believer, i want to produce fruit for God, and i long to be able to help you do the same.
The two passages that are the primary motivators for what i write about on this site are listed below (unless otherwise noted, all Scripture quotations on this site are taken from the Holman Christian Standard Bible®, Copyright © 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2009 by Holman Bible Publishers. Used by permission):
1 John 4:15-17 (emphasis added)
Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God—God remains in him and he in God. And we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and the one who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him. In this, love is perfected with us so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment, for we are as He is in this world.
Mark 12:29-31 (emphasis added)
“This is the most important,” Jesus answered: “Listen, Israel! The Lord our God, the Lord is One. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other command greater than these.”
On my prototype blog i spent three posts dissecting the meaning of these passages, primarily 1 John 4:15-17, from which the name of this site originates. The three parts can be accessed here: part 1, part 2, part 3.
To sum up those three posts: believers are called to be the most loving people in existence. Love is more than a thing we say when we are happy, but rather a way of life, even when we are not happy. God is Love. Jesus is Love. Jesus was not happy when He was on the cross, dying the death we all deserved, so that we could live with Him forever, but that was most definitely the greatest demonstration of love that the world will ever see. In the same way, those who follow Him are called to be like Him in this world: loving. We must give of ourselves even when it hurts. This is what it means to live in Love. And, as 1 John 4:17 shows, this living will lead to confidence in the day of judgment–the truest reward.
I will tell you up front: you won’t like everything that i write here. Some of the things i write challenge even my own thinking and living (this post is a good example) and it hurts. But when the Word of God is being opened, explained, and applied, it will hurt. (The author of Hebrews called God’s Word a sword on purpose.)
If it is convicting and makes you want to scream, “How dare you!” then God–through my written words–is answering the prayer i laid out at the top of this page. If you are offended by any of my words, please comment below. I can’t promise that i will change what I wrote, but sometimes i do go too far in what I say, so please keep me honest. All i ask is that you use professional language in your comments (i will delete comments containing expletives or swear words).
I want this to be a safe, growth-conducive site. I want discussion to be had in the comments. I want to be able to write about what you want to know, so add suggestions in the comments below. But more than anything, i want God to be glorified, His Word to be heeded, and His Kingdom to expand (even if it costs me “followers”).
I would be honored if you’d join me in this journey, so that together we can seek to better love and honor both God and His people. This site exists for Love.
Soli Deo Gloria
